HEALTH IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION
OUR PROJECT
Climate change will affect the health and wellbeing of every population and place on the planet in profound ways. This project seeks to identify how best can the world adapt to the risks posed by climate change. It will develop methods to evaluate adaptation options to ensure effectiveness and long term sustainability.
We will undertake an interdisciplinary evaluation that incorporates the health and wellbeing impacts of interventions into sustainable adaptation. With partners on the front line of climate change impacts we are developing, refining and calibrating criteria for health and wellbeing impact evaluations of interventions, building on current knowledge on implementation of climate change adaptations.
The international team includes climate scientists, hydrologists, economists, demographers and social scientists. The focus is on flood risk – a pervasive climate-related risk in every corner of the world, where adaptation options include living with the risk, infrastructure solutions, and whole community relocation. We work in the UK, Ireland and Ghana.
